J.D. Irving, Limited's forests are used to make various quality products. In addition to consumer tissue products (facial, bath, towel, napkin), J.D. Irving, Limited's forests are also used to make specialty wood products, corrugating medium, kraft pulp, specialty paper grades, premium kiln dried lumber (including hardwood, softwood (SPF), eastern white pine, and eastern white cedar).
Scotties® products are made from new wood pulp fibres from J.D. Irving, Limited's forests. The wood pulp fibres come from hardwood and softwood trees.
Yes, our softest Scotties® ever is still hypoallergenic and is made without the use of inks or dyes.
This means that J.D. Irving, Limited has developed and follows guidelines for sustainable forest management, including measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk and forests with exceptional conservation value. In addition to these guidelines the company works with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C041515), and Canada’s Crown Land Management Program to ensure they meet or exceed these third-party standards. J.D. Irving, Limited has over 20% of its forests dedicated as conservation habitats. The Sustainable Forestry Initiative is one of the largest and most widely accepted forest certifications in the world. It is an independent, 3rd party certification program with non-profit charitable status. It is a comprehensive science-based forest certification standard with one rigorous standard for all members no matter where they are located. It audits the health of forests according to 75 criteria that includes biodiversity, habitat protection, water quality, forest harvesting and forest management activities. Yes. Since 2001, 100% of the forests owned and/or managed by Irving Woodlands have been certified by The Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (“SFI”). SFI’s forest certification standard is based on principles that promote sustainable forest management, including measures to protect water quality, biodiversity, wildlife habitat, species at risk, and forests with exceptional conservation value.
